SOPHIE LOU
Sophie's right front leg was amputated to remove a cancerous tumor. She did not have any follow up treatment, it was not deemed necessary.

Sophie is the youngest Magic Bullet Fund pup to date. We hope and believe that the cancer is gone and that Sophie will live a long healthy life!

Sophie has chondrosarcoma in or near her right front scapula. My husband works at a local company in the tool crib and I do hair. I informed Dr. Mohler that I applied for the assistance and told him and our primary vet about the awesome website for the Magic Bullet Fund. They both seemed anxious to visit the web site.

Sophie is a blue coat blue nose pit bull. Pit bulls have somewhat of a bad reputation. Sophie has not a mean bone in her body.  We tell everyone the only thing deadly she has is her tongue and her tail. Kisses and wags. How could I forget to mention that she likes to sing! I sing "Sophie Lou, I love you," and she sings it back to me!

We got Sophie when she was 2 days old and weighed 4oz. And the runt of a litter of 10! She was not getting to nurse because of weakness and her size. We were afraid she  was going to die, so we  rescued her. We fell in love with this tiny little precious creature. I would weigh her daily with a food scale to make sure she was gaining weight. She could curl up in the square bowl that sat on the scale. I had to use a warm moist cloth to get her to tinkle and poo, round the clock bottle feedings, etc.

When she was about 2 weeks old, Sophie got an infection in her left eye. I sat up all night putting warm moist compresses on the eye. That night, she was taking her bottle and as I held her in the palm of my hand, her left eye rolled into my left hand and this large, clear bb looking thing fell on the floor. I had no idea what it was so I put it into a ziploc and took it to that vet. She said that it was the lens of Sophie's eye and that she would be blind in that eye.

Sophie is only 1 year 7 months and 20 days old. We are very concerned and scared for our precious little girl. I honestly believe that she has a purpose in life, because she has not only endured, but conquered a lot of things in life. She has a huge heart and has so much love for everyone that loves her.
If we are not chosen for the assistance program, please, please keep Sophie in your thoughts and prayers!!  I have been and will keep telling everyone what a great program and website the Magic Bullet Fund offers! Thank you for your time, and God bless!

Thank you, Jenny

Sophie had chondrosarcoma and the affected leg was amputated.
Jenny Swearingen says,

"Just 11 ½ hours after surgery, I couldn’t believe how well she did! She walked out from the back of the vet clinic all the way to the car. Sophie was a real trooper and bounced back from surgery quickly. Adjusting to life on three legs was no problem. Yesterday, our neighbors were out in their yard and Sophie was running to the fence as fast and as hard as she could. She was jumping two railroad ties while running hard and fast and she never missed a beat! I was so happy that I cried.

We look forward to many more years with Sophie, thanks to the Magic Bullet Fund."
