Have you read the
book
by Laurie about
Bullet's cancer journey?
|
|
The Magic
Bullet Fund was founded by Laurie Kaplan in 2004, in conjunction with
the publication
of her book, Help Your Dog
Fight Cancer. Laurie’s Siberian Husky, Bullet, fought a brave
battle
against
canine cancer. Bullet had lymphoma, completed a 75-week
chemotherapy protocol and remained in remission for
the rest of his natural life—4 years and
4 months. Bullet was almost 14 years old when
Laurie lost him to renal failure.
During the
fight for Bullet’s life, Laurie became
inspired to provide assistance to those
who are not able to afford
cancer treatment for their pups. Hoping to find a way to help them, she
founded the Magic Bullet Fund as a program of the Perseus
Foundation.
MISSION STATEMENT
To help
those who have made room in
their homes and hearts for a canine companion, but do not have the
financial
resources to provide cancer treatment
for their dog. The fund provides financial assistance to
people who have dogs with cancer and cannot pay for treatment. The fund
assists dogs who would not receive
treatment at all without the fund’s help.
To raise public awareness about canine cancer and educate
all caretakers about cancer prevention, early detection and treatment
options.
The
Magic Bullet Fund is a
program of the Perseus Foundation. Donations are tax deductible.
