WHILE
BULLET WAS FIGHTING CANCER, I was very aware of
how lucky I was that I had the resources to
help
him fight. I thanked the Universe every day and I knew that it would
have
broken my heart not to be able to take him on that journey.
Since
our last newsletter, your
generous donations have allowed us to provide that journey for four
beautiful pups. Please welcome Riley, Lacy, Rookie and sweet Sophie
into the fund. We are all hoping for cure or remission for these
beautiful pups.
We
also had three
very sad losses. Please join us in offering sympathy to the families of
these very special dogs:
Sparticus' family ~ Sabrina, Shawn,
Lucas and Jacob West in Littleton, CO
Treana's mom ~ Renee Leflore in
Topanga, CA
Regal's mom ~ Shirley Stack in
Berlin, NJ
The Magic
Bullet Fund is about trying to beat canine cancer. But it is
also about giving a dog and that dog's family more time together.

The Magic Bullet Fund
Laurie’s
Siberian Husky, Bullet, fought a brave
battle
against
canine cancer. Bullet had lymphoma, completed a 75-week
chemotherapy protocol and remained in remission for
the rest of his natural life — 4 years and
4 months. Bullet was almost 14 years old on November 20, 2004, when
Laurie lost him to renal failure.
The Magic
Bullet Fund was founded by Laurie Kaplan in conjunction with
the publication
of her book, Help Your Dog
Fight Cancer. In November 2005, the fund accepted the first dog,
Regal, into the program and began to fulfill its mission in loving
memory of Bullet.
During the
fight for Bullet’s life, Laurie became
inspired to provide assistance to those
who are not able to afford
cancer treatment for their pups. Hoping to find a way to help them, she
founded the Magic Bullet Fund as a program of the Perseus
Foundation.
MISSION STATEMENT
To help
those who have made room in
their homes and hearts for a canine companion, but do not have the
financial
resources to provide cancer treatment
for their dog. The fund provides financial assistance to
people who have dogs with cancer and cannot pay for treatment. The fund
assists dogs who would not receive
treatment at all without the fund’s help.
To raise public awareness about canine cancer and educate
all caretakers about cancer prevention, early detection and treatment
options.
The
Magic Bullet Fund is a
program of the Perseus Foundation. Donations are tax deductible.
