BACH DOHERTY
6-year-old Basset Hound
Diagnosis: Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF: 1/18/12
Funded: 680.00

My son Danny and I adopted Bach from the Denver Dumb Friends League when he was 3 years old. For the first year he was timid and withdrawn. He now barks at squirrels in the trees that pick on him, and he chases after the birds if they land in "his" yard. He barks and makes noises at me when he wants something. This is the same dog that didn't make any noise at all for a year and a half.
My son is now 17 and moves Bach back and forth with him to his Fathers house. He is a happy, carefree dog and he knows how much we love him.
His eyes have this expression that he understands everything you are saying to him and responds accordingly. You can see in those eyes that he is just wanting love back from you and he fully trusts that you are there to protect him from harm.
Just thinking about his cancer will make me cry, and I need to be strong for him and for my son. Danny needs to know that life is good and that people will help other people when times are rough. Danny will learn how to help others through this hard time too. He loves Bach so much as do I, Bach is a part of our family and we need him. He is a real treasure in my book and I am grateful to all that can agree and assist with us keeping him here.

BROGAN LOONAM
4-year-old English Mastiff
Diagnosis: Osteosarcoma
Treatment: Surgery ASAP
In MBF: 1/11/12
Funded: $1,625.00

Brogan is a fun, loving, playful English Mastiff.  He is one of the best things that happened to me and is truly my best friend. Brogan is loyal, protective and overall the best dog I have ever had. He is only 4 years old!
Brogan has Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his front right leg. Amputation is my only option to try and save his life. It kills me to not be able to help someone who has ALWAYS been there for me. I reached out to MBF for assistance because I can’t afford to pay for the surgery. I'm so grateful that Brogan is now a Magic Bullet Fund dog! MBF is an amazing fund and I appreciate all of their help. Please donate to help. Brogan needs to have this surgery as soon as possible. Any donation will help - every little bit counts toward saving my gentle giant's life.

SANDY DAVIS
7-year-old Boxer
Diagnosis: Fibrosarcoma
Treatment: Amputation
In MBF: 11/23/11
Funded: $860.00
* MBF requested and obtained further assistance for Sandy from the Dog & Cat Cancer Fund.

Sandy has been in my life since she was 6 weeks old. She is now 7 years old. She was given to me for protection and she does a great job doing that. She also shares a love no one or no other dog can. We've been through a lot together. Sandy loves to sit on laps even though she weighs 72 poounds. She likes going to the beach but hates the water, and that's how she got her name "Sandy." She's always there WHENEVER I need her. Now I need to be there for her. Sandy and I want to thank MBF, family and friends for the help that is desperately needed to save Sandy's life. There are no words to describe my gratitude for the help we have received. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! - Marisa and Sandy
ENDER KING
See Ender on TV!
3-year-old Terrier
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 10/31/11
Funded: 695.00

We adopted Ender, along with his twin brother Echo, from our local shelter when they were 8 weeks old. Ender has a huge personality. We always say that he's really a human in a dog's body. Since the day he came into our lives, we've been madly in love with him.
We found out at the end of September that our little man has lymphoma. We've never been in so much pain. He is only 3 years old, too young to have to suffer through something like this and definitely too young for his life to end. Even though it is a huge financial commitment, we knew in our hearts that we had to do whatever we could to save him and to allow him to live the long life he deserves.
We also want to save our little Ender for his brother Echo. They had never spent a day apart since the moment they were born. Those few days of them being apart during Ender's diagnosis was heartbreaking.
We live paycheck to paycheck. With bills on top of student loans, we are definitely not equipped to handle this. Between diagnostics and a hospital stay when he was first diagnosed, we have already put ourselves in debt for several thousand dollars. We've done everything we can to gather extra money for his treatments. We ask for loans, pay bills late, ask for extensions, eat only hot dogs and Ramen. But now we've hit a brick wall and we're asking for your help.
Our baby Ender means everything to us, and we are so grateful to have this chance to help our little man to win his fight against cancer. Thank you so much - we appreciate this opportunity more than we can say.

CHARLIE ROSEMEIER
8-year-old Beagle
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 10/21/11
Funded: $1,865.00

As a 2-month-old puppy, Charlie was roaming the streets of downtown Columbus, Ohio. I found him hiding under a car, tarving, covered in fleas, wiith such a sad look in his eyes. I knew as soon as I held him that there was something special about him - about us! Charlie has been with me for 8 amazing years. He's my best friend. He has always been by my side. When I moved from Ohio down to Florida 6 years ago, I did not know anyone, Charlie was the only thing that was comfort, that was home. Since then, Charlie and I have moved back to Ohio for another career opportunity, then back to South Florida again.
Charlie is my love, my life, and so much of my happiness. He is strong and healthy but now he has lymphoma. His only chance to live a longer, happy and very spoiled life is to have chemotherapy treatments. I cannot afford them on my own and am asking for help! I need help...Charlie needs your help! Charlie has three younger siblings, all Beagles, that he is a father figure to. He takes care of them and protects them. Please consider donating to Charlie's Cause!
I thank MBF for the opportunity and assistance for my baby boy...he has brought so much joy and so many memories into my life and everyone that he meets...please consider helping save my baby's life! Thank you for taking the time to read Charlie's story.

JAX SWAFFORD
4-year-old Pitbull
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 10/3/11
Funded: $500.00

Jax has been in our family since he was eight months old. We adopted him from a family who wasn’t able to take care of him. Jax has blessed our lives more than we ever thought a dog could. He is our best friend and he is very, very loved.
Jax goes everywhere with us and is welcome at all of our friends' homes. He loves everyone and tries very hard to get people to let him sit in their laps. He weighs 80 pounds, but he thinks he's a lap dog!
When Jax became part of our family, we thought we would have plenty of years to love him. We never thought that we would have to worry about him getting sick.
In the short time that Jax has been with us, he has given us a new outlook on what we want in life. The thought of living without him so soon is unbearable. We started Jax’s chemo treatments without knowing if we would have the funds to continue.  Please help us to support Jax in the biggest fight of his life. Hopefully, our big baby can fight his heart out in his battle against cancer.

LUCKY MOJICA
See Lucky in the News
7-year-old Labrador mix
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 9/16/11
Funded: $970.00

Lucky is a handsome black lab mix. He has been in my life since March 2006, when I adopted him from the Humane Society of Broward County.
He is just as content cuddling in bed as he is chasing squirrels, cats, and lizards. His favorite toy is a stuffed giraffe Budda Belly, affectionately nicknamed "Precious" (Lord of the Rings reference). He spends hours sucking on it everyday as he gazes outside.
He was diagnosed with lymphoma on September 3rd. The motto I am trying to live by is: "Do not mourn the living." Everyone's days are numbered, but with your help we can give him a higher number of days. I would love for him to touch children's lives as a therapy dog; his calm, gentle demeanor makes him a perfect candidate. I will be looking into that once he regains his strength.
Words can't even express how I would feel if I found out his treatment was funded. The feeling would engulf my heart and bring me tears of joy and almost make my heart stop for a moment in disbelief. He's my world! I am forever grateful to anyone who contributes to making his treatment possible and/or prays on his behalf.

AVA MERRY
7-year-old Black Lab/Sharpei
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 9/9/11
Funded: $790.00

Our Ava is a very special dog who my daughter and I love so very much. We rescued her when she was a puppy after she had been abandoned in a Target parking lot. She has been our spoiled little girl ever since!
Ava, who we call Woopy, is a huge part of our life and is the heart of our family. She is my shadow and I love her with all my heart. She is very gentle with the grandkids that I am helping to raise. She just loves everyone, even our kitties.
Ava was diagnosed with Lymphoma on May 24, 2011. We began treatment the following week and were shocked at how much money we would need to keep Ava alive. She was given 6 weeks to live without treatment, so we made the decision to do whatever we had to do to help save our girl. We have had yard sales, sold house hold items and borrowed money from family. I have been struggling to make ends meet and have chosen treatment over groceries.
One day, after spending my entire paycheck on Ava’s treatment and hospitalization from a fever and low white cell count, I broke down at the vet hospital and they told me about Magic Bullet Fund. I felt like there was hope after hearing the news and went right home to apply.
It amazes me that complete strangers care so much and are so giving and compassionate. It's sad that such a terrible disease exists for canines but it brings really good loving people together for a cause. It is so amazing that we are helping our animals together from all over the country!

My daughter and I truly appreciate any help that can be provided. Without assistance we don’t know what we will do to provide Ava the therapy she needs. With all our heart, we thank you!

8-year-old Golden
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 9/15/11
Funded: $1,784.00

In July, I underwent surgery to remove a mass on my lower spine. The surgery was complicated and recovery has been slow. I have been out of work for months and it's uncertain when I will be able return to my job as a hospice nurse. My husband, Dave, works part time with the post office and may soon also lose his job.
There is never a good time to find out your beloved pet has cancer, but the news came at a very bad time for us.
Brooklyn is a very special dog who has a permanent smile on her sweet face no matter how she feels. Upon arriving home from my challenging day helping dying patients and their families, I was always greeted by her expressive eyes and wagging tail. She would curl up to me, sensing I needed comfort. Whenever there is something wrong in our lives, Brooklyn senses it and is by our side. After my surgery, she spent long hours washing me with dog kisses.
Not treating Brooklyn, despite our financial hardship, was never a option for us, we love her so much. Words cannot express our gratitude to our guardian angels at Magic Bullet Fund, and all of the sponsors who we hope will donate to help us give Brooklyn more time. Thank you for any help you provide, from the bottom of our hearts and paws!

DAYZE UNDERWOOD
10-year-old Beagle
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 9/1/11
Funded: $2,170.00

I lost my husband five years ago and Dayze became my lifeline. During times like that, the bond created and healing that takes place with a faithful, loving dog at your side can’t be described.

Dayze wins hearts just by being Dayze. She is the cutest, most loving, loyal, and smartest dog I’ve ever had. She’s touched many lives and even has helped raised funds for dog rescue organizations, most notably as the last cover girl on the Seattle Beagle Rescue fundraising calendar.
About three weeks ago, I discovered Dayze’s enlarged lymph nodes. Once diagnosed, I was told she could die within weeks if treatment was not started soon. Looking at what Dayze has been to me and the dog she is, I knew she deserved this chance. But I am in desperate need of financial support because I lost my full-time job two years ago and unemployment has ceased.
I am very grateful to the Magic Bullet Fund for their incredible efforts to help fund treatments for canine cancer. We will be forever grateful for any donation you can possibly give. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your consideration and for giving us this opportunity for a continued life together.

KARMA STELLY
See Karma on TV!
5-year-old Pit bull
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 8/10/11
Funded: $800.00

I got Karma as a gift when she was a puppy in '06. I was single and living alone, Karma and I soon developed an unbreakable bond, we were inseparable. She has always been my shoulder to cry on. Karma welcomed the arrival of my little girl, Jenna, in '09. They are like sisters, best friends.
In April I noticed Karma wasn't her happy and energetic self. On July 13th, she was diagnosed with lymphoma. I was heartbroken when they told me without treatment she was only going to live for 6 weeks. The doctor suggested chemotherapy, costing around $4,000. I cried the whole way home trying to think of a way to pay for the treatments.
So I went on the Internet looking for help, and found the Magic Bullet Fund. I applied and they did agree to help us! If you are able to donate, Any donations will be greatly appreciated to help Karma fight for her life. I thank anyone who is able to help us continue Karma's treatment. - Amy Stelly
ZEUS STANTON
See Zeus in the News!
2-year-old Labrador
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 8/5/11
Funded: $540.00

Zeus is only 2 years old, but he seems to be an old soul. We think he is a kind spirit that has come to help heal the sadness and hurt in Mike's life.
Mike is Zeus' owner. Mike has been disabled since 1985 due to back and hip problems - he has had 22 surgeries in 25 years. Mike had 3 hip replacements and 19 back surgeries. Mike is 55 and Zeus is his best buddy in the world. Mike talks to Zeus because he understands the pain Mike is in when no one else does.
Zeus gives kisses and hugs when you ask for them and he
likes to ride in the car, windows down with his head out of the window. The photo shows him with Mike, with his food dish in his mouth. He eats and then turns the bowl upside down, pushes it with his nose, and barks at it like it is the enemy. We call him Mr. Wiggles because he wags all over, he is so happy to be alive.
We thank MBF and all of the sponsors for the chance to give Mike and Zeus more time together. The whole family appreciates everything being done to help us.

LEYLA GONZALEZ
4-year-old Min Pin / Jack Russell
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 7/29/11
Funded: $536.00

Everyone needs a best friend. My dog Leyla has been just that for me over the years. I’ve had her since she was a puppy and it truly was love at first sight for the both of us. She was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. I was heartbroken. I thought that there was no hope for her to overcome this deadly sickness because I didn’t have the funds to pay for treatment and didn’t know how I would come up with thousands of dollars in time for her body to remain strong enough to fight the cancer. So I looked online for help with funding and came across The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund. I submitted her application and they referred me also to the Magic Bullet Fund. The Magic Bullet Fund did offer assistance along with Dog and Cat Cancer Fund so that Leyla could start treatment. For those who are able to donate, your help is greatly appreciated. Leyla has started treatment and your donations will be needed to continue it and fight the cancer. Leyla and I can’t do this without you and we will be forever grateful.

9-year-old Pomeranian
Diagnosis: Mammary Cancer
Treatment: Surgery 8/1/11
In MBF: 6/29/11
Funded: $1,170.00

Princess has been a part of our lives since she was a puppy, and in the nine years we have had her, I have felt my heart grow bigger than I ever thought possible. There is something in the way she looks at us, especially with a bone or a toy in her mouth that makes my heart melt. Princess is not just a dog, she is a close part of this family, and we love her as a child. It felt like a brick hit us in the stomach when we discovered that our child has a tumor in her mammary gland. The thought of her experiencing any harm has overwhelmed and scared us beyond belief.

Princess has been there for my mother and myself through my mother's fight with cancer and heart failure. We knew that there was no way we were going to let cancer beat Princess, but we had no idea how we could afford to do it considering my mom has been out of work for the past five years because of her sickness. I could not believe that such a giving organization was available AND willing to help Princess and my family. The Magic Bullet Fund’s compassion has given us hope that our beautiful Pomeranian will continue to make us laugh and smile for years to come.

Our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude and love for everyone who has chosen to help Princess.

Dear Laurie and everyone who was a part of Bumble Bee's new life,

In MBF: 6/10/11
Funded: $1,200.00

Nikki was born in our house as the runt of a litter and was bottle fed by my boyfriend. She's a gorgeous brindle mutt. Nikki has been an incredibly well behaved and loving pet. I was devastated when we took her to the doctor for what I thought was a sprain and well dog check up, and found out she most likely has cancer. She's such a great dog and at only 3 1/2 years old, she deserves a chance at a good life! We love her very much.

Diagnosis: Tumor on left front paw
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF: 5/27/11
Funded: $420.00

My DOGS ARE MY LIFE and Sampson is my baby.  If you could meet Sampson, would see right away that he is a super sweet, incredibly loving, intelligent, intuitive, docile and GOOFY dog - he is a 130 lbs Lap Dog! I feel like such an incredibly BAD DAD because I cannot afford to pay for his treatment.
Sampson is the kind of dog that goes out of his way to say "Hi" to everybody at the park.  He has sooo much life and love left to give. I am humbled that there actually people out there who are willing to help us. I am PRAYING for HELP!!
- Joshua Peacock

June 29, 2011
Sampson is doing AWESOME! He is 100% Back to Himself! You can see it in his eyes and his expressions. He feels good again!! He is sitting on my feet right now as I type this. His tongue hanging out to the side with a big smile on his face! I picked up a Doggie Harness for 3 legged dogs and I am able to get him in and out of the car and over to the park much easier. Last night at the park he actually started to “run” around a little bit and we are able to play a modified version of “Fetch”!
Laurie, THANK YOU and the Magic Bullet Fund from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART!! I am so grateful of all of your help!   Once I get back on my feet financially, I hope to help some other dogs on the Magic Bullet Fund web site! Thank You!

CHASE MILLER
8-year-old Chihuahua/JRT mix
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 4/21/11
Funded: $453.78

I rescued Chase as a puppy when my previous dog, Ginger, was going through cancer treatment at UGA. He was there when I needed him and I am trying my hardest to be there for him. I adopted a small dog this time, so he could live a longer life with me and I am distraught he has come down with cancer at such a young age. There are no words to even begin to describe how grateful to MBF I would be for any funding. Thank you for everything you do!
- Geri and Ronald

June 29, 2011
Chase is doing well. His white blood count was to low to do chemo a few weeks ago. They reduced the dosage next time and he is fine. He has four more treatments left and he is done. I, on the other hand, am worried about what will happen when he stops receiving chemo. Every week when I pay my bill I thank you. I am so thankful Chase got treatment. Hope all is well with you.

GRACIE ARTHURS
7-year-old Gordon Setter
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment
: Chemotherapy

In MBF: 3/12/11
Funded: $890.00

From Karen
I’m grateful to have received the support and help of the MBF at this time.  I was told Gracie would only live a few weeks if I didn’t start her on chemotherapy right away. Shortly after she started her treatments I learned my job would end. People (who never had a dog or a connection to one) told me to let her go. Then I found Laurie’s book about dogs with cancer and her foundation MBF. Gracie has been my side kick for 7 ½ years now. As a newborn pup she escaped (from her litter of twelve) through a fence to the front yard. My kind of girl. She’s met almost every type of dog there is. Her joy in life is to run up and down hills chasing birds and has been known to jump over a chair. She’s patient and loves to get you involved in her favorite games.  She’s responding well to her treatments and we are looking forward to having more time chasing birds through fields. She has truly been my Amazing Grace.

From Jose and Judith
When we found out that our girl Nikki was accepted by the Magic Bullet Fund we knew our prayers had been answered. She will now have a fighting chance to recover and live her life to the fullest. Running and playing with our beautiful baby girl could again be possible. Nikki is a loving and intelligent girl we rescued, but in turn she rescued us from a great loss. Her favorite game is for us to count numbers one and two as she raises her left then right front paws to count out the numbers with us. As seniors in our late sixties her companionship and unconditional love is always a comfort in our daily trials of life
KAYLA MADDOX
6-year-old Pit Bull
Diagnosis: Mast Cell Tumors
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 2/3/11
Funded: $460.00

From Erin
When I first heard Kayla's diagnosis last November my heart sank. She is such an amazing being I couldn't imagine living without her. I knew I would do everything in my power to overcome this with her; and your assistance could not have come at such a crucial time.
Kayla is doing wonderfully. The only sedation she requires during treatment is a belly rub. We've taken to dubbing her treatments "spa days". This past Monday she even had her nails done! I'm so grateful we'll be able to see this through with your help.  When K & I first came together in 2007 she had seen better days; and I was getting her 1 month after she'd been left for dead in the woods in Orlando. We'll celebrate our 4th Anniversary on March 19, and thanks to you, our 5th too!  Knowing everything she's been through, she amazes me every day at her capacity to love and forgive, and most of all move forward.  She reminds me that yesterday's demons may cast a shadow, but they don't have to blot out the sun.  I am so blessed to have her to love.  We look forward to many more years together.  Thank you so much!

My dog is special because I adopted her from being put to sleep the day I got her. Tuesday is my sweet girl who cuddles with me at night, and who does exactly what I say. My vet says she is special. She loves me unconditionally. I look at her at night sleeping and I see that big tumor and I asked God to get us a little more time together.
I was so thankful for the assistance for my little baby Tuesday.  I know if she could talk, she would thank you also.
SICILEY ZAVALA
7-year-old AmStaff
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 12/3/10
Funded: $3082.82

From Brian and Cameron
Siciley has been a special part of our family for over seven years. She is the perfect companion; she will rest her head on your knee when you’re sad, snuggle on your lap when you’re into a good book, or swim all day long on a hot summer day. She is outgoing, silly, smart, compassionate, and affectionate. When you meet Siciley you are greeted with wiggly excitement, wagging tail, and lots of kisses. As you get to know her you begin to think of her as more than just a dog; she is a companion, she is a healer, she is family.
Learning that she had lymphoma was heartbreaking. Our entire family was affected by the news and felt helpless that current hardships meant that we could not help her. After meeting with an oncologist we were absolutely hopeless; how could we ever pay the thousands of dollars it would cost to pay for chemotherapy?
When we received the call that the Magic Bullet Fund would make it possible for Siciley to receive the treatment she needs, we were ecstatic. We laughed and cried and shook with excitement…our prayers had been answered! Words cannot express how grateful we are to be a part of this amazing organization and receive this life changing help. We are not ready to lose our precious Siciley and thanks to the Magic Bullet Fund and their generous donors, we don’t have to.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

June 29, 2011
Siciley's hair has thinned out in a few places and she has lost her last little whiskers, however she seems and happy and we are very happy to have her. Everything from now on is just a blessing and we try to make every minute count. We found you when we we hopeless and a member of the family like Siciley always brings hope. Thank you so much for everything you and your staff have done to help total strangers. You will always be in our hearts and we will always continue to do what we can to help the Magic Bullet Fund.
With Love,
Brian, Cameron & Siciley
OWEN MILLETTE
5-year-old Cocker Spaniel
Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy

In MBF: 12/10/10
Funded: $632.71

From Herb
My baby boy, Owen, means the world to me. I'd do anything to keep him in the world. Owen has given me many good years. I don't think it's fair for him to be taken from this world at such a young age. He has many good years left in his life. I'm his whole life and he's mine. Giving him this second chance in life is all I ask. I would miss him dearly each day I come home and each morning I awaken.
In the beginning I thought I could handle paying, however, the bill has got to the point of well over $1,000.00. I reached out to you and others. However, you are the only ones that are willing and able to help to give Owen a second chance in life. Words can't describe how I feel that you are willing to help with saving Owen.
Thankfully, Herbert Millette, Jr.

11/18/10 from Laurie
Ali came into the Magic Bullet Fund today. I scheduled surgery for Monday but the surgeon said the long holiday weekend would make follow up visits difficult. So the surgery is tomorrow!
Yikes!!
I sent out a plea to Magic Bullet Fund subscriber list and the donations poured in. When I told Araceli she was sobbing so hard she couldn't speak. Thank you, everyone, you have hearts of gold. You have given one special dog owner new faith in what the love for dogs can accomplish.

From Araceli 12/6/10 (amputation was 11/19/10)
Ali is doing Great! He waits for me at the door, running in circles. When he knows I'm getting ready to leave, he looks at me with those big puppy eyes so I  have to take him with me. In MBF: 9/17/10
Funded: 1324.84

From Melissa & Matt
Maggie is our 5-year-old hound mix that we adopted when she was only 12 weeks old from the local shelter. Maggie loves to play fetch, take naps under the shade tree, and dig holes in my garden. Maggie is very loving and full of life. She has been a loyal companion going to work w/ us, taking walks downtown, and staying by my side when i'm sick. I can't imagine her not waking us up in the mornings to start our days together. When we heard that the Magic bullet fund wanted to help Maggie with her treatment we were over joyed. We're so thankful that we are going to be able to make even more memories with our Maggie. Thank you to all that help.

July 4, 2011
Maggie is doing great, it's been 1 year ago today that we found out that Maggie had Lymphoma. We are really proud at how well she has done and keep praying she will out live us all.

From Patrick
Kaito is a 4-year-old Lab Mix that has been my constant companion for the last 4 years. He is a brilliant dog with a huge heart and I just could not even fathom him not being here with me. I refuse to give up on him! He made every day for me a better one and always makes me smile and laugh which in this world we all need more of. He has taught me so many things about life that I truly never had a grasp on, like responsibility, caring and the most important one, Love. His name KAITO is Japanese, It translates to “The Answer: The solution to a Problem,” which when I need him the most he truly is.
When I found out that the Magic Bullet Fund was going to help him I had tears in my eyes. When you find people who really don’t know you or your animal and they are willing to help you care for your best friend, you have to be humbled. This fund is truly remarkable and we have been blessed. I owe the Magic Bullet Fund a debt of gratitude that words cannot express. Thank you from me and Kaito so much!
DAKOTA SOTO
9-year-old Shepherd Mix
Diagnosis: Mast Cell Cancer
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 9/7/10

Funded: 473.00

From Sandra
Dakota is a 9 year old Shepherd/Chow. He was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor of the lymph node back in June of this year. He had surgery soon after diagnosis; the oncologist recommended chemotherapy. He just had his 4th treatment and is responding very well. Dakota is very special in every way. He has been with me since he was 2 months and every day is an adventure with him and every day he reminds me to live in the moment. He has also been a loyal friend to me and my parent who has Alzheimer's.
When MBF told me that they would help me with his chemo I was very excited, happy and hopeful that I can continue his treatment & be able to extend his life. This is my gentle giant.

June 29, 2011
I am happy to report that Dakota is doing very well! He gained some weight; he got up to 72lbs & the oncologist said he needed to loose 5 pounds. He walks 3 miles every other day & 41/2 the other days. Yes, i am tired but, he is losing the weight. He is carrying on like a puppy! Please keep Dakota in your thoughts & prayers I don't know what I would do without him, nor do i want to find out. He is already 7 months in remission & we're going to stay in remission.
KAYLEE SANCHEZ

Diagnosis: Mast Cell Tumor
Treatment: Palladia
In MBF: 5/21/10
Funded: 1,435.81

From Brenda
When I found out Kaylee was sick I was devastated. She is the best dog in the world and has been the sweetest Pit Bull I have ever owned. Kaylee has been so gentle and loving her entire life to kids and elderly people and I couldn't imagine her going through so much pain. I felt helpless and that is when the Magic Bullet Fund came in and said that they would help with her medication. This has been a life saver to me, Kaylee and my family.

Without the help of the Magic Bullet Fund, I didn't know how I was going to afford to care for Kaylee. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
ALLYSON BERNAVA
9-year-old Yorkipoo Mix
Diagnosis: Hepatic Tumor
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF: 7/30/10
Funded: 1,600.00

From Jennifer
When my family learned my beautiful Allyson had cancer we were devastated. She is our "only child" and losing her would break our hearts. When we learned of what the surgery was going to cost we felt hopeless. It was beyond our means. When all hope seemed to be lost our veterinarian told us about the Magic Bullet Fund. We immediately applied. Within a week I received a call saying the Magic Bullet Fund would help us pay for her surgery. We were ecstatic. It is amazing what unconditional love of an animal can do. And for us it is something that we cannot live without.

We want to truly thank every person involved in this funding opportunity. You give help and hope to people who need it more than you will ever know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Diagnosis: Tumor
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF: 7/9/10
Funded: $750.00

From David & Tess
Buster is one the most gentle souls in the whole world. My wife took him in before I met her, when he was about 1 1/2 years old, as a stray, and trained him. He has given us nothing but joy and happiness. Even when our menagerie grew he never was jealous. He loves his little brother "Frisco" the chihuahua and the cat and the horses. When we learned that he had cancer, we were all so sad. We did not have the money to treat him but the Magic Bullet Fund came to our rescue. Now our beloved Buster has a bright future. Thank you MBF!
PINKY JIMENEZ
11-year-old Mix
Diagnosis: Mammary Cancer
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF: 6/24/10

Funded: $400.00

From Jimenez Family
The moment we found out that you would help us pay to treat Pinky, we were not only excited but extremely grateful and happy. To us, Pink is not only part of the family, she is like our daughter. Pinky has been with us ever since she was a puppy, almost 12 years ago, growing alongside us and being a companion through tough times. During Pinky's lifetime she has experienced tremendous hardships, among those two miscarriages. When we came to the U.S. we couldn't even think of leaving our dear Pinky behind so we brought her along with us. Since then, Pinky has been enjoying life. It seemed that she would be happy forever until the day that we found out she had a mammary tumor. We were very worried that we might not be able to help her, however, everything has turned out well. Thanks to MBF, Pinky will undoubtedly overcome this obstacle. We expect Pinky to live alongside us for many more joyful years to come. Thank you.
UKIAH BURTON

4-year-old Malamute
Diagnosis: Melanoma (mouth)
Treatment: Radiation Therapy
In MBF 6/17/10
Funded: $750.00

From Pamela
I cried when I got the email from the Magic Bullet fund. I had agonized over how much I could do, on a limited income and disabled, for my Beautiful Boy. Ukiah came to me as 2 year old Malamute weighing 60 pounds with heartworms, complicated by pneumonia and was given a 30% chance of “winning” his fight for life. Now at 4 years of age, he is in another Fight for His Life. He has aggressive oral melanoma. Ukiah has had only 2 years to enjoy a safe and happy life, but with the help of the Magic Bullet Fund we hope to have him light our life for awhile longer. Again - "Thank you" doesn’t begin to say how we feel!!! The Magic Bullet Fund has made radiation therapy possible for Ukiah. You are truly WONDERFUL!!
 ANNA JONES
10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier
Diagnosis: Mammary Cancer
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF: 6/16/10
Funded: $800.00

From Eric
The Magic Bullet Fund is the best thing that has happened to me and Anna. I have had Anna for 10 years now and she has become an instant family member to me and my family. And I made a pledge to myself that I would love and care for her no matter what. Everyone inside and outside knew who Anna was because she loved everybody who she met and cuddled with. But after finding out she needed surgery, me and my family's hearts were broken. That’s until Anna and I were accepted into MBF. I felt like the heavy cloud that was hanging over my head was suddenly going away. When MBF told me that they would help Anna get the treatment she needs, they truly made me a believer that there are people out there who actually care.
MOLLY BURTON
10-year-old Border Collie
Diagnosis: Transitional Cell Carcinoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 4/30/10
Funded: $2210.00

From Joellen
I was so very happy and grateful to learn that with Magic Bullet’s help, Molly will be able to get the treatment she needs to fight this cancer. I don’t know how I would be able to pay for her treatment without MBF. Molly is an amazing dog who has lived a very full life. We have done Pet Assisted Therapy, Agility, Herding and Flyball, and she has been a natural at all of them. She has always been a devoted companion to me, and a valued member of our family. My daughter, who grew up with Molly, calls her “my perfect dog”, and that she is, we are attached at the heart.

6/23/10: I can't begin to tell you how much you and MBF's help has meant to me and Molly. Her response to treatment has been wonderful, but without your help, I would not have been able to afford it.
TARA CALLAN
9-year-old Sheltie
Diagnosis: Mast Cell Tumor
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 4/30/10
Funded: $1,308.75

From Michelle & Michael
Without the generous financial assistance of the Magic Bullet Fund, I would never have been able to afford to give Tara the treatment she needs. I thank the Fund from the bottom of my heart. I believe that when we adopted Tara 9 years ago, I made a promise to her. Words keep running through my head from St. Exupery's - The Little Prince - "You are responsible forever for what you have tamed." Without your help, I might have failed in keeping that promise to Tara. With MBF's help we are looking forward to many more wonderful years together.

June 29, 2011

Tara's 11th birthday was last week- without your help I know that we would not have celebrated that day.

From Russell
I want to thank the wonderful people at the Magic Bullet Fund and their contributors. Without the help of people like you, the chances for my Girl would be pretty grim. I found 20 tied up to a fence behind my building in Los Angeles.
20 had been used as a breeding dog and was in bad shape when I rescued her. I got her spayed and we
moved to the suburbs of NYC. 20 and I have taken care of each other from the start. She goes everywhere with me.
I thank you so much for helping me continue to help her live out her life happy and healthy. 20's cancer is responding well to the drugs that she has been on. When I was scared to death, this sweet animal had all the strength, enough for both of us.
The good graces of selfless people like the people at the Magic Bullet Fund and all of the people who volunteer or contribute make the days brighter for sweet animals like 20 and for the people who love them so. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Funded: $1917.00

From Jillian
As soon as I received the call from The Magic Bullet Fund informing me of the wonderful news to have help for Lexi, I felt so appreciative that MBF is wanting to help me. As soon as I hung up, I started crying; I felt truly blessed that I have been accepted for funding for her treatment. Lexi is my little baby, who greets me at the door when I come home, starts howling and runs to get her stuffed animals so we can play. She means the world to me, and I am so thrilled to have the help of this special organization. Lexi is such a joy to have around. She still acts like a puppy, and I know she can fight this disease, and overcome it. MBF is such a compassionate program to have, and I thank you for all of your help, because without you, I do not know if she could have had the surgery she needs. It is hard to express just how thankful my family and I are, for receiving financial help to take care of Lexi’s cancer. With your support, this is giving Lexi a second chance at life.

Letter from Mary
Words cannot describe the immense relief we felt when you called to say you were interested in helping fund our precious Nikita. Our hearts were torn from thinking the worst when we first learned of his diagnosis - our lack of funds for the surgery were completely breaking them. When we heard the Magic Bullet Fund could help, we couldn't stop our tears from flowing. We are going to have a chance to enjoy Nikita and his unconditional love, we don't have to lose him right now. We are so grateful to have this second chance with him. Thank you from the bottom of our healing hearts.
JAXON COLLIER
2-year-old Puggle
Diagnosis: Gastrointestinal lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF: 3/8/10

Funded: $2,000.00

From Sara
There are not words to express how relieved I was when I found out that Jaxon will get the treatment he needs to fight lymphoma. I thought there was no hope, and to say I was devastated would be a complete understatement. I felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. MBF has given me the hope to think that Jaxon may live and continue to brighten my life every day. As many people know, there is nothing comparable to the companionship of a dog, and Jaxon is no exception. Thank you for helping me give Jaxon a chance to fight this terrible disease; thank you for allowing me the opportunity to save my best friend.

Jaxon has been my best friend in the world and has brought an unmeasurable amount of joy to my life. I was told that without treatment, he would have one to three months to live. Treatment is extremely expensive, and I do not have the necessary funds. My family was as equally upset, since Jaxon is treated like my parents' grandchild and my sisters treat him like their nephew. If love could cure cancer, Jaxon would easily live forever!

June 29, 2011
Jaxon and I are doing great! I recently got engaged and bought a house with my fiancé. Jaxon now has 2 parents that absolutely adore him.  our house is about 20 minutes from my parents, so Jaxon is more spoiled than ever :) As an even bigger bonus, our house has a fenced in yard. Jaxon looooooves to play ball outside and lay in the sun. Jaxon has another checkup in August, but at the one he had in February the vet said everything looked/felt fine. Pray this one goes as well. I can't thank MBF enough for giving me the opportunity to spend another year and a half with my baby.
All the best,
Sara

SAMANTHA KELLY

Diagnosis: Lymphoma
Treatment: Chemotherapy
In MBF 10/15/09
Funded: $600.00

From Kristine
Samantha is my best friend. I got her when she was three months old. She'd been thrown from a moving car and her leg was broken. A witness took her to a local kill shelter where a volunteer got her leg fixed and fostered her. I was lucky to adopt this beautiful, sweet, and shy dog. She's never really gotten over her fear from the abuse she probably suffered as a puppy, but is happy at home with me and the other dogs. She deserves a chance to live after all she's been through.
HUNTER HALFMANN
5-year-old Boxer
Diagnosis: Mast cell cancer
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF 9/11/09

Funded: $580.00

From Dona, Charles and family
Hunter is not just a dog - he is a miracle. Any animal that can have a smooshed face, drool all over the place, and smash frogs with one giant pounce sounds like a monster. Well, this animal is a gentle angel. Hunter has made me believe that a wrinkled-up, drooling face is beautiful; he has served as a therapist with our special needs son, calming a tantrum when I stood in tears not knowing what to do. He came into our lives as more than a companion, he is a member of our family and I think we need him more than he needs us. Sorry, Frogs!

June 29, 2011

Hunter is doing amazingly well!! Just saw the vet last week and they say he is in perfect health, no signs of cancer or any other diseases.
I can't thank you enough for saving his life. He is so happy and just a normal happy dog, who thinks he is still a puppy.
TOBY LUNA
9-year-old Terrier mix
Diagnosis   Tumor, hind leg
Treatment   Surgery
In MBF       8/28//09
Funded: $705.00

From Anneka, Ashley & Peter Luna
My dog Toby is doing good. His tumor was removed last month and his leg is completely healed without hardly any scarring!! It appears that his tumor is growing back a little bit in a higher location on his leg but the growth is very minimal.  I have him on the K-9 immunity supplements which I believe is helping him.  We enjoy Toby everyday and we are so lucky he is not in any pain right now.  He healed tremendously well and was such a touch cookie throughout the entire process.  He is one amazing dog.  I am so grateful for all the help and support I have received through the Magic Bullet Fund.  I feel blessed every time I spend time with Toby and see how he recovered so quickly.  It is truly a miracle how everything turned out.

July 5, 2011
Toby is doing GREAT!! His tumor did not grow back and as a matter of fact I now can't even tell which leg had the tumor on it!! I can't believe what a miracle it was that this happened, given that most doctors would not remove the tumor because of its massive size. I remember being in absolute fear of making the wrong decision amputation vs tumor removal and now I have the most confidence that I made the right decision. For me, prayer I think was the biggest influence of his remarkable recovery. Now it's as if he never had cancer. I hope that you are doing well, and I honor how you help all those dogs with cancer.
I hope Toby lives a few more years thanks to the Magic Bullet Fund.

CARAMEL TSIKALIS
8-year-old Pit Bull mix
Diagnosis: Mammary tumor
Treatment: surgery
In MBF 6/18/2009
Funded: $1,094.00

From Simeon
I would like to thank everyone in advance for helping me with this dark cloud in Caramel's life.  When I first found out the lump I found was diagnosed as cancer, I did not know what to do.  I had just been laid off from my full time job, just had shoulder surgery, and my part time job cut hours due to lack of work.  This could not have happened at the worst time.
When I found out I was accepted for fund raising it seemed like a weight was lifted off of my heart.  Don't get me wrong, I am currently applying to several jobs daily and have been augmenting my hours at my part time job by asking my coworkers to work for them when they need a day off.
Caramel is my second dog I've ever owned.  My first dog was stolen and I was very saddened by this.  When I got Caramel, she was not only a pet and a friend, but a therapy dog for myself.  Caramel will be 8 this year.

June 29, 2010
Caramel is doing great. Her coat is about as good as it's ever been. She still loves to play and she still can't stop her tail from wagging. I will send you a picture later.
OLLY STULL
9-year-old Golden Lab
Diagnosis: Mast cell tumor
Treatment: Surgery
In MBF 6/18/2009
Funded: $1,000.00

From Sara
I could not imagine my life without my sweet dog.  He is the happiest, friendliest, most loving and hilarious pup I have ever seen.  His tail wags in a circle when he gets excited, like a propeller, I think sometimes he might just take off into the sky.  He keeps me warm at night in the winter and he runs on the beach with me in the summer.  He protects me from bugs and lays his head on my legs when I'm upset.  He rolls onto his back when I walk into the room, just in case I might be so inclined to give his tummy a rub.  He is full of love and joy and curiosity.
We have been together for nine years now, from way back when he was a fat little puppy rolling in the grass with a smile on his face.  Now, he's just a larger puppy, rolling on the grass with a smile on his face. Olly just has such an amazing energy, and it breaks my heart to know he is sick, and that he needs my help, and I can't give it to him, after everything he's given to me.  I cannot stomach the thought of doing nothing to help this wonderful creature whose life now depends on me.

July 1, 2011
Olly's doing pretty well - he's showing signs of becoming an ornery old man, which I am incredibly grateful for! He's slowed down a little, but still has the very best of intentions, I feel like the raw diet he's been on has done him really well.

I found a large lump in Sammie's neck about 3-4 weeks ago. It was thyroid cancer. I cried for days. Then I got on the computer and read everything I could. I found the "raw diet" and started him on that along with grain-free dog food. I found the Magic Bullet Fund, which is a Pit Bull rescue web site. I don't know what I would have done without them. I will forever be grateful and plan on being a monthly contributor after this is all over. Thank you your thoughts and prayers.

I cannot tell you how much you and your group have meant to me in these few short weeks.  I will always donate to you when I can, and I will spread the word all the time.  You are all very special people.  And I will give you updates on Tillie and let you know how she is doing.  I can't believe this is happening, but we still have Tillie and we will cherish every day we have her.
I can't tell you how much this organization has touched our family.  I can't even think about you without crying.  Thank you!

HOMI LAWRENCE
8-year-old Mexican Street Dog
Diagnosis: transmissible venereal tumor
Treatment: chemo
In MBF 1/09
Funded: $700.00

From Steve & Kelly
We found Homi in February 2008 in Alamos, Mexico. He was laying in the street with what looked like a huge red cauliflower on his back. When I was back in Alamos November 2008 I saw him laying in the road, barely able to get up when cars came by and still with the huge "wound" on his back. We also noticed he had two huge tumors on his penis and a bloody discharge. This time we had to do something, so we found a rope and managed to get hold of him.
We took a trip to Mexico, back to the village where we found Homi. He walked down the street where he used to sleep and people came out to point at him - the last time anyone saw him he was a walking skeleton. His fur has gone from gray and brittle to golden and very soft and shiny. He looks like a different dog.
I bought some of the shirts that MBF offered at the MBF store at Cafe Press and my Dad wears them all the time in the UK, to raise more funding for the MBF dogs.
Thank you to everyone who has donated toward Homi's treatment, we are very grateful to you all and the Magic Bullet Fund. Homi is extremely well and very healthy, thanks to you.
Wendell PicWENDELL BISHOP

Diagnosis: Sarcoma in nasal cavity
Treatment: Radiation therapy
In MBF 2/09
Funded: $758.00

From Kati
Wendell is my foster dog through the St. Louis Senior Dog Project.
I can't believe how cool it is to have MBF assistance and support for Wendell. I am so happy that we found you!  And the donors!  OMG!  People are helping out and donating!  Thank you to everyone and thanks so much to the Magic Bullet Fund for helping us!

June 29, 2011
Wendell is fine. I still cant believe it has been over two years. He certainly beat the odds, since at first I was told two weeks! I credit the bravery of the St. Louis Senior dog project's vet, who de-bulked the tumor when no one else would, to allow Wendell to breathe and to give me time to find the Magic Bullet Fund!

Luna Family PicLUNA CHAUNCE
7-year-old Lab
Diagnosis: Mast cell cancer
Treatment: steroid therapy
In MBF 1/09
Funded: $247.00

From Beth
I think I actually have the most wonderful, sweet and loyal companion a dog owner could ask for. Her name is Luna and she is a 7-year-old chocolate lab. Luna is a very fit and active dog. I have gone on hikes several times per week for the last 7 years and Luna always stays right by me. When I go camping, I bring Luna and she sleeps with me in my sleeping bag. It's a funny site but I wouldn't have it any other way. We have had so many wonderful times together. Luna has truly become my best friend.
I found a lump on Luna's back that has been diagnosed as mast cell cancer. My heart sank. Luna is only 7. How could this happen? She is in great health. After the surgery was done to remove the tumor, Luna needed chemo treatment to kill the remaining cancer inside of her. I had spent all of my "buffer" money on the surgery. I cannot afford anything more. Please help my little pal Luna. She is still so young and has a lifetime ahead of her of hikes and swimming and snuggles.

Early 2011
Luna is still cancer free and a happy girl. I have found some really great supplements for her arthritis and she is moving more freely. I am still an out of work certified art teacher and I had to move in with my brother in MA to find substitute work. As soon as I find a full time job I will be a regular monetary contributor to this amazing fund. I am so grateful for Laurie's love and commitment to us. She is a gem.

12/11/11
Luna is great! She has arthritis but still enjoys her walks. I married my dream man this past October and Luna is now Luna Steines. We just found out that we are expecting our first baby, so Luna will have a sister or brother! We have decided to name out new baby with Luna as their middle name to honor our best friend. I bought her a new doggie bed for Christmas but I am hiding it in my car so she will be surprised. She has difficulty jumping up into bed and recently she has been sleeping on the floor at the side of our bed instead of with us. I want her to have a comfortable place to sleep. She is still filled with joy and happiness.

1-year-old Pitbull
Chondrosarcoma
Treatment: surgery
In MBF 2/07
Funded: $1,298.99

From Jennifer and Daryl
MBF has been a great supporter through all of our experience with Sophie and her cancer. I called Laurie anytime I had questions or needed moral support of any kind. She would help in any way she could. She always had the right words or answers to the questions I had to comfort and guide me when I was so distraught that I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. Laurie made phone calls to the veterinarians when I needed her to. Sophie had a vet that diagnosed her, and a vet that performed her surgery.
Sophie is doing good! She seems like she does not even miss her leg. She can jump up on the bed or on "her" couch. We do not let her jump off of the bed, as it is high up and do not want her to injure her front leg jumping on it with all of her weight. It feels so great to still have her with us! Thanks to Laurie and the MBF we still have her with us! We don't know what we would've done without them, and we don't know what we would've done without Sophie! We pray that we have many more years to come with her in our lives!
